Step 1: Getting the Home Ready to
Sell
Making a first impression is always
important, whether it's in your career or in selling your home.
Getting your home into top showing condition is one of the very important
things you need to do before letting any one know that you are wanting to
sell your home.
The first thing to consider in getting your home ready is the curb
appeal. Make sure prospects can see the home and have a favorable
impression when they drive by the home. The next step in the
critical first impression is your entryway. Make your home inviting.
The next step is to box up a lot of your "stuff" to get rid
of the clutter that all homes have. Also pack up family pictures,
etc. from your walls. The buyers need to think about their things in
the home instead of your things! Clean up, paint and clean carpets
as needed. Pay special attention to the kitchens and the bathrooms.
You may even want to watch the TV shows on getting homes ready to sell
for some ideas. Another idea is to go to open house and new
construction display homes to see how the homes are staged for showing.
