Colby Sambrotto is the founder of the first website listing service for seller's selling on their own, ForSaleByOwner.com.  He has made millions off of telling sellers that they should avoid using a professional to sell their own homes because it would cost them money and that they could do it all themselves easily.

Colby Sambrotto recently sold him luxury condo in the Chelsea section of New York.

Did he sell it by himself?  No.  He listed it with a real estate professional who told him that it was worth far more than Sambrotto was thinking it was worth.   And it sold fairly quickly at that price, netting Sambrotto far more than he would have gotten if he had sold it on his own.  

The sale price?  

$2.15 million!!!

Kind of goes against what he'd been telling people for years, doesn't it?
